This afternoon is a hundred per cent Russian – from the famed Pictures at an Exhibition to Rachmaninoff's temperamental piano concerto performed by the Russian hands of young, passionate Olga Kern. Shostakovich's short "October" is evidence of the programme's source of inspiration: the 100th anniversary of the Russian Revolution.

Australian-American Danielle de Niese is known as a soprano among the cream of the opera elite and as a true performer on the stage. This year she joins the Tivoli Copenhagen Phil's new chief conductor, Toshiyuki Kamioka in Tivoli.

The Estonian Festival Orchestra visits Denmark for the first time. The orchestra was founded in 2011, and in this concert it presents music from Estonia's neighbours: Denmark's Carl Nielsen, Finland's Sibelius and Russia's Tchaikovsky.

This concert is one of 39 classical concerts during the summer season presenting carefully chosen local semi-professional orchestras or upcoming musicians from the region’s conservatories.

Brautigam has made a name for himself among the international elite by specialising in the precursor to the modern piano, the fortepiano. Get close to the sound at the time the music was written, and hear the distinctive tone and fragility of the fortepiano in the Sonata Pathétique and other much-loved Beethoven classics.
