The Orangery

Malian guitarist and singer Samba Touré effortlessly mixes local songhai blues with western genres. Like most Mali singers, his lyrics are concerned with current social issues and stories about the importance of family life. He has dedicated several songs to women who have been important to him both personally and from a broader perspective. In this he carries on the legacy of his mentor and great teacher, Ali Farka Touré, but also of his American hero, blues legend John Lee Hooker. Danish music magazine Gaffa gave him five stars for his concert in 2015, so make a note on your calendar now!
