For the first time, TIVOLI will be full of Fastelavn carnival spirit and is inviting children to dress up in their favourite costumes. So, come and join in the fun of 'beating the cat out of the barrel' – whether you are a knight, princess or something else entirely.
From 10 –18 February, every day you can 'strike it rich' in sweets with the Danish version of a piñata party at the Castle Square in Tivoli. There will be barrels for children of all ages. And, of course, you are welcome to dress up.
A cat queen and cat king will be crowned in each age group.
Everyone who participates in beating the barrel will receive a bag of sweets. The bags of sweets will be given out when the barrel is demolished. And to ensure the bags of sweets are equally distributed, the barrel itself will be empty.
A Tivoli employee will be assigned to each barrel to manage the plan of attack. And there will be masters of ceremonies to announce the cat queens and kings etc.
For reasons of space, we recommend that only the participating children enter the area where barrels will be beaten. Naturally, the youngest children are welcome to take a parent along.
You can buy your ticket in advance and print it out, or display it on your smartphone. All tickets are scanned at the entrance to the area, and if the ticket is not used at the time stated, the ticket will not be valid. The ticket cannot be refunded or exchanged.
The different age groups will have different barrels, with the biggest barrels for the biggest children. To ensure that everyone has equal chances of demolishing the barrels, it is therefore not permitted to buy a ticket for an age group that is younger than the child's actual age. However, you can buy a ticket for an older age group if the relevant age group has sold out.
The ticket does not include admission to Tivoli.
