An adventure for the whole family: The Nutcracker transforms the Tivoli Concert Hall into pure magic with impressive pirouettes, glittering stars, symphonic music and an enchanting fairytale atmosphere.
Queen Margrethe’s expert touch is behind the set design and costumes for the performance, and the choreography is by Peter Bo Bendixen, Tivoli’s Artistic Director. The ballet will be accompanied for the first time by Tivoli’s own symphony orchestra, the Tivoli Copenhagen Phil, which numbers 70 permanent musicians.Tivoli's Artistic Director, Peter Bo Bendixen, says of the performance:
“It wouldn’t be Christmas without The Nutcracker, and it’s wonderful to add to Tivoli’s Christmas atmosphere with a Christmas production that even uses Tivoli in 1874 as a backdrop. The festive story of The Nutcracker is one of my absolute favourites: a true classic brimming with adventure and magic for children and their families.
“Thanks to the Queen’s eye for those little extra details in both set design and costumes, there’s a whole world for audiences to discover. This is the third time The Nutcracker has been staged at Tivoli, and we’ve added new touches to make this performance very special.”
