The Tivoli Concert Hall

Be among the first to experience an exciting new version of H.C. Andersen's classic, fairy tale The Snow Queen. With over 30 dancers and live music in Tivoli's Concert Hall - enjoy ballet, music and song in a poetic tale for the whole family.

HM Queen Margrethe is the creative force behind costumes and decorations, and Danish pop icon Oh Land has created new music for this event. The choreography lies in the savvy hands of award-winning Yuri Possokhov.

Tivoli's director Lars Liebst says: "It is not every day that you have a creative team consisting of a queen, a leading musician and a Russian choreographer. There is no doubt that the Queen, Oh Land and Yuri Possokhov as a team will create a compelling ballet that speaks to a wide audience."

The snow queen will premiere 1 December 2019 in the Tivoli Concert Hall. The performance is recommended for an international audience.

Danish singer and composer Nanna Øland Fabricius, aka Oh Land, presents new music for The Snowqueen.

Queen Margrethe II

The Queen's partnership with Tivoli dates back to 2001, when she created the set design for the Hans Christian Andersen production, "Love in the Dustbin", which combined three fairy tales into a story of pride that goes before a fall.

After that came "Thumbelina" in 2005, "The Tinderbox" in 2007, "The Swineherd" in 2009 and "The Steadfast Tin Soldier" in 2013. All the ballets featured choreography by Dinna Bjørn, former dancer at the Pantomime Theatre, Artistic Director of the Norwegian National Ballet, and now a highly respected Bournonville expert. The music was composed by James Price. The Queen also created décor and costumes for a full-length ballet, "The Nutcracker", in the Tivoli Concert Hall in 2012. This production was reprised in 2014, 2016 and 2018. "Cinderella" in 2016 also featured choreography from Russian choreographer Yuri Possokhov and music by Oh Land.
